I’ve spent the past several years caring for adults with a broad spectrum of mental‑health needs—major depression, generalized anxiety, bipolar disorder, schizophrenia, and co‑occurring substance‑use challenges such as alcohol or cannabis dependence. Whether in outpatient clinics, residential treatment programs, or hospital units, I always begin by listening to your whole story: your symptoms, your goals, and the personal, cultural, and life‑situational factors that shape how you experience distress. From that foundation, I design a personalized plan that may include medication, evidence‑based psychotherapies (CBT, DBT, psychodynamic work), and integrative/lifestyle strategies like sleep hygiene, nutrition, and stress‑reduction, all selected from the latest research.

My training is truly international. I trained in Medicine at Universidad del Rosario in Colombia, completed a General Adult Psychiatry residency and an Addiction Psychiatry fellowship at Dartmouth‑Hitchcock Medical Center in the United States, earned an MPH in Health Economics from Harvard. I have worked and lived in different countries. These experiences have given me fluency in several languages, allowing me to communicate comfortably with patients from diverse linguistic backgrounds.

I bring that multicultural perspective into every session, honoring each patient’s cultural background while staying firmly rooted in evidence‑based medicine. My goal is to create a safe, compassionate space where you feel heard, respected, and empowered to take an active role in your recovery, ultimately achieving lasting well‑being.

My Approach

The Philosophy Behind the Practice

Four core principles guide every patient interaction, every diagnosis, and every treatment decision made at this practice.

The Patient at the Center

Your goals, values, and daily realities shape the treatment plan — not the other way around. I see the whole person, not just a set of symptoms. Every recommendation is discussed openly with you before any decision is made.

Science as the Foundation

All recommendations are grounded in the best available clinical evidence. I regularly consult current APA and WHO guidelines, peer-reviewed literature, and my own training experience to ensure you receive care that has been proven to work.

Cultural Humility

I was trained on three continents and have worked with patients from across the world. I understand that culture profoundly shapes how distress is experienced and expressed — and I honor that in every encounter, with genuine curiosity and respect.

Beyond the Prescription Pad

Unlike many U.S. psychiatrists who focus solely on medication, I also integrate psychotherapy, mindfulness, exercise, nutrition, and natural remedies when appropriate — because healing is more than a chemical equation.
